Town Courtyard Gloucestershire
Previously nondescript and cramped, this small townhouse courtyard in Cheltenham has been radically rearranged to give vastly more usable space, a transformation that the owners describe as ‘like magic’!
Chameleon Design drew up proposals using a 3D computer package which creates a virtual reality model, so that the clients could really understand the scheme. Our clients find this invaluable, especially in enclosed spaces or where there are changes of level, as it allows them to fully appreciate the size, shape, feel and look of the new design. It even shows where shadows will fall through the year and at different times of day.
We’ve loved seeing the space emerge in a crisp contemporary style warmed up by natural timber and the original old brick walls. Where before the level changes were a necessary evil, now the two sets of steps are beautiful features in their own right. The planting is exuberant and colourful, including an ericaceous bed with specially sourced peat-free compost.
A very satisfying project proving that good design can really make all the difference, and we know that this gorgeous courtyard will delight its owners for years to come.
