Worcester Mediterranean
A small drab yard behind a red brick Victorian terraced house has been given a facelift with a Mediterranean flavour by use of terracotta tiles with inset of coloured mosaic, and low walls rendered white to reflect the sunlight. A feeling of space is created by mounting an exterior grade mirror on one wall, and the diagonal layout creates interest and keeps the focus within the garden. A tired concrete wall has been painted a rich vivid blue to offset the old red brick.
The raised beds bring the planting close to the viewer, and the wide copings are great for casual seating. Space has been left among the permanent plants for growing scented herbs and salads, and Spring bulbs bring an early splash of vivid colour. With space for eight to sit comfortably around the generous table, this is now a lovely outdoor dining and party room which is a great asset to the property.
