A
welcome that links new and old
When
a sleek modern wing was added to the Mansion House in Stroud's
Stratford Park in order to house the town's museum, the challenge
was to sympathetically link the two styles of architecture
with a welcoming forecourt.
Our design elegantly resolves
the rather awkwardly shaped space between the old and the
new, and by subtly manipulating the ground levels, incorporates
a low stone edged amphitheatre which is used by the museum
for displays and events. This is a very successful space which
complements both parts of the building. Parents may find the
gentle ramps of the amphitheatre irresistible to their younger
children!
